What's the recipe for music?

What's the recipe for music?

Whether you're strolling on the sidewalk, watching a movie or taking a shower, music can transform these motions into great pleasure. Without even knowing why, a simple track is able to unravel tons of emotions inside of us. It feels like music communicates with the brain to offer some great pleasure or discomfort.

Before we go deeper into the subject, I shall begin by explaining to you what's a sound wave. A sound wave is a pressure wave pushing his way through the molecules of air. This pressure wave has an amplitude going through the wind is being rated on how the source wants it to be. It may not sound easy to comprehend but an amplitude is basically the pressure of air measured on a scale of time. The frequency is the pitch; the note. It is often portrayed in a graphic, as shown below.

For the source, it could be anything. For example; it could be you stomping your foot on a piece of wood; this action will release multiple vibrations through the air. If we take these vibrations all together, it can become a sound wave. Although we often see this sine wave pattern, it is hard to recreate this sound with no technology. Thus, it will most likely look like the graphic below.

These sound waves are proven to have a significant power in the human brain. Researches confirm that brain waves will resonate with the beat of our music. Therefore, we obtain an envy of matching our breathing pace with the music.

phys-ed-does-music-make-you-exercise-harder/

On August 25, 2010
, A post called "Does Music Make You Exercise Harder?" was written to explain the correlation between exercise and music. It's very impressive how the BPM (beats per minute) of a song can vary our full potential in sports. For more deeper clarification, I would suggest you read the post.

Although the sport is a great example of this situation, there are tons of others. Like listening to pleasant music which boosts your serotonin; the brain chemical that gives you good feelings.

Certain genres of music are named by the feelings they interpret like sad music, "chill" music, dance music... You might observe that this energy we obtain by listening to music may change your overall mood. It can be used for special treatment like addiction or depression.

Nostalgia Painting, by Nelya Shenklyarska

By the brain, the sounds we hear can either be sorted in long-term memory or short-term memory. The hippocampal, the brain structure that is mostly responsible for making long-lasting memories, has been observed that it is active while listening to some repetitive sounds that means something, like music. Then, later on, getting back to those memories can be a real enjoyment. That phenomenon is called nostalgia.
