To All the Boys I've Loved Before

By Aurélie Langlois

A few months ago, I read a book name “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” by Jenny Han. Little did I know there was going to have a movie based on that book. When I heard about the rumour I was more than excited to see the movie and see the differences between both the book and the movie. It’s not uncommon that movies adaptations are not exactly like the book they’re based on.

While I was watching “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” I realise that this movie was not really the same as the book. Of course, you have the same idea that is going on throughout both, but the movie was missing a BIG part of the book who, for my opinion, was one of the most important part. What we don’t see in the movie is that Lara Jean is volunteering at a nursing home. With that part, you can see that Lara Jean has a big heart and also, the person she’s taking care of, is coming back in the second book. So for those who wanted to read the serie of three books by Jenny Han, I would advise you to read the first book as well or else you’re not going to understand some parts of the two other books.

Personally, I preferred the book to the movie. You have way more details in the book, such as the relationship of the three girls with their father and you also have more information about their mother who died couple years ago.
