Yanny or Laurel?

Yanny or Laurel? Is it going to be like “the dress” all over again?

Earlier today, an audio clip was posted on the Internet. Some hear the robotic voice say “Yanny”, and some hear it say “Laurel”. There is a whole debate going on on all sorts of social media, such as Instagram and Twitter. The whole situation started when the website “Reddit” shared an Instagram story with a white fond written “vote” on it. There was a square that said “Yanny” and another one that said “Laurel”. Now people tried to demystify the whole situation. A number of scientific observers have said that the discrepancy comes down to how we process different frequencies, the acoustic information that we use to hear. Some of the variation may also be due to the audio device playing the sound. They also say that the word we hear can also depend on our age. A 52 year old man said that is why he hears “Yanny”. Some people also say that because we’re looking at the two words when listening to the recording, our brains could automatically fixate on one word, thus influencing what we hear. What do you hear?
