Pursue your dreams... whatever the cost?
By Mathieu Goulet-Côté
Do what you want, you can become anything, the world is yours you just have to go for it. Everybody was encouraged that way at least once by our parents, but why does that speech seems to suddenly change when you get into your teen years? Is it fair to restrain your possibilities only for the sake of "safety"?
Most of us at some point have dreamt to become astronauts, fireman, policeman, superstar, model but then you start to be "more realistic." Since everybody cannot be part of the few, society in general, tends to pull us back, to orient us toward a safe path, a safe job, with a stable income, and a good family, but at what cost!? Is it best to have a stable but boring life than take some risks, but reach for the top? I don't think so. Surely some risks are just too important, but everybody should be granted the support to keep on doing what they love to do.
If you love doing something, and you shouldn't mind what the society thinks of it. From wanting to be a signer, a successful businessman, or simply doing your safe...ish hobby (see picture) you should keep doing it because the society has no right to tell you what is socially acceptable or reasonable, if you love doing it, then keep going!
