Simons is a really famous clothes shop in Quebec. Their boutiques propose many types of outfits, from regular to luxury brands. All or their stores have the same type of architecture that seems to be inspired by Greece. The good news is that since march 15, the one in the Galeries de la Capitale is a real renewal ; he has a more actual style and in plus, he makes a great difference for environment.
This new surprising shop took the place of the old Target that closed a couple years ago. Simons relocated there to have more place and to give life to their new environmental project.
Peter Simons, the owner and creator of the business, had in mind to make of this store the first Simons with a zero carbon balance. The questions are : what’s the impact of carbon in environment? What is good about decrease our carbon footprint?
First of all, carbon is the main responsible of the climate change, which is one of the biggest environmental problem we are facing. Climate changes have some terrible consequences such as harm animal’s lives by changing their habitat, make them contract diseases, increase flood, increase the temperature, increase the risk of forest fires and much more. That’s why we need more companies who want to make a difference.
To achieve this inspiring project, a lot of structures had to be to reach the goal of zero greenhouse gas balance. For example, 27 geothermal wells have been drilled in the ground of the shop’s parking. All of these brand new systems allow to reduce the energy consumption of 60% compared to the old Simons, which is very impressive and promising.
In conclusion, the new Simons store did something remarkable with his new project and our world needs more companies who will take the lead in front of the important environmental issues.
