After having a huge success in the US, the TV show called This Is Us strikes again but this time it is here in Quebec. This family drama, created by Dan Fogelman, an American television producer and screenwriter who has devoted most of his work for Disney, had its premiere on NBC on the 20th of September 2016. It has been positively acclaimed by every critic and has been nominated for many awards such as the 74th Golden Globe Awards. All those good reviews are there for a reason and here is the explanation.
The show addresses difficulties that some family has to face. A young couple, who has been struggling with absent parents through all of their childhood, finds a way to build a strong and healthy atmosphere to educate their own children. They were prepared to have triplets, but it did not go as planned. They ended up coming home from the hospital with three kids, but not as they were expecting it. We follow their story, their up and downs, their happy and sad moments. Dan Fogelman found a brilliant way to incorporated all sorts of different sensible topics in his show such as adoption, weight issues, cancer, death, money problems, drug addictions and much more.
What makes this show great is the bond you create with all of the characters. They play perfectly with their role, making it their own. The producer combines many different personalities which makes it possible to connect with a larger audience. The story has a lot of rebounds and it often becomes emotional. At the end of each episode, there is always a punch revealed that makes you want to continue watching until it is two in the morning and you have school on the next day.
I strongly suggest you watch the show This Is Us if you are looking for a series that is emotionally intense and that is going to grab all of your attention.
