The Quebec City Summer Festival : Younger than Ever

The Quebec City Summer Festival : Younger than Ever

By Julia Larouche

This year the Quebec City Summer Festival celebrates its 51st anniversary by staring a lot of young and
successful artists (Shawn Mendes, Lorde, The Weeknd...). The main reason for this is popularity; what a
better way to attract the youth than by inviting artists that seem closer to them?

This year’s Summer Festival excites a lot of people, mainly the youth. Indeed E3, the non-profit organisation that orchestrate the popular event, decided to concentrate on attracting a younger public.

After artists like Pink, Selena Gomez and Bruno Mars created a frenzy, the director of the festival’s
programmation, Louis Bellavance, realised that young pop artists are what people want and that he has no
reason to not give it to them.

Economically, this could also change a lot for the F.E.Q. By having so many trendy artists performing, Quebec
could actually become a threat to the other famous festival, Osheaga, 253 kilometers away, in Montreal. Even
though Montreal still attracts more people and artists, the price difference between the two festival could
make some people have a change of heart when it comes to buying tickets.
