PROS AND CONS OF THRIFT STORES

Champion, Fila, Levis, Adidas, these brands are popular lately, but are they worth the price?

I started shopping in thrift shops about a year ago. I’ve seen the disadvantage and the advantage of it.

Starting with the pros, We save a tremendous amount of money. I recently both a Tommy Hilfiger
shirt for four dollars, instead of 50 dollars only because someone didn't want it anymore, it’s a great
quality shirt still in pretty good condition.

Shopping in thrift stores gave me the possibilities of trying new still and have a wardrobe more
diversified. I’m less scared of buying a shirt that I’m not a hundred percent sure of, because I know
that if it turn out I’m not wearing it, I will only have lost a small amount of money and I can give it back
to thrift shop and it will find another owner.

Thrift shopping is good for our wallet, but we also help the planet! All the clothes are at least at their
second lives. We discourage massive industries that exploit children and we help environment
because instead of throwing these clothes in good conditions, people give them to stores that will sell
them.

Of course, there is negative to shopping in these places but nothing we can’t deal with.
As much as I love thrift stores, it demands a lot of patience. Sometime, the clothes are pretty ugly, no
wonders why their owners got rid of them. When we decide to got to a thrift shop we have to be ready
to stay there for hours to find something that might be interesting.

I love thrifts shop, but I understand that it’s hard to buy things when you don’t know the person that
wore it before us, you don’t know if it’s a disgusting person or not. The smell of these places doesn't
help, but  after putting it in the washing machine a couple of time before wearing it, it’s safe to say that
all trace of the last owner is gone.

I didn't stop shopping in big shopping center, but I’m going there less than before and I think it’s a little
something everybody can do to help the planet, if you’re not convinced at least next time you want to
get rid of your clothes, think of thrifts stores instead of trash.
