Usually, when you think about a musician life and how they are living, you think about their huge house, expensive watch and clothes etc… And it is mostly true. If you look at celebrities such as Jay-Z who’s house is worth more than 88 millions dollars. But what if I tell you about a less but still known musician who lives a normal life?
Hailu Mergia is a popular musician who plays the keyboard. He was born in a little village in Ethiopia. He used to play for the group Walias Band who started their career in the early 70s and finished in the 80s. During that time, they recorded 4 jazz album. In some weeks, they would play up to 7 day in a row!They were a huge thing in their country and because of that, they chose to do a tour in america.Little did they know that this would change their lives. At the end of the tour Hailu decided to stay in the country.
Thing is, music wasn’t as big as in Ethiopia. Because of that, Hailu commenced riding a cab. Something quite unique. You might not know him but imagine calling a cab and having a popular artist like Post Malone or Zakk Wylde picking you up. Some people didn’t even believe it was him. But even though he is driving a cab, it doesn’t mean he has to stop playing music. At 71, Hailu released his first album in over two decades. He is now on a tour all around the globe.
