It's more than housing
Getting to know what's near us
We all know the building that has been rebuilt from scratch over a year ago. But do any of you know what’s all the extraordinary that goes on in this center? Being mainly part of a women’s regroupment called the YWCA, the organisation also gives classes (mixed or only for girls). Let me show you that this building is more than apartments for woman in need.
Like Romane said in her text on the history of the YWCA organisation, “YWCA is the first women’s multi-service organisation that was implemented in our country. Their mission is to advance gender equality for women and girls with informed advocacy and a deep seated member association.”
First of all, the women-association is known, as said previously, for their accomodation of housing for those in need. They have two types of housing, the emergency and daily. Such as Maison Hélène-Lacroix or Accroche-toit, this women-only-housing offers them a place to refugees when an extreme familial crisis happens. They welcome everybody and make their mission to give them a safe, judgment-free environment. As they say, their mission is to provide them with minimal housing effects and to help them being the best of themselves.

After all, the YWCA is not only to welcome women is the need, it organises classes and courses to entertain and educate the society and neighbourhood. From swimming to cardio-max, they offer a variety of classes that in the majority, anybody can sign in for. In exemption, like the running club, many activities are reserved for women for them to express themselves freely. For certain woman in this association who have been assaulted or been a victim of domestic violence, being in a group entirely made of women can help them participate stress-free.
The YWCA Québec organisation has helped so many persons over the years. I think that opening their arms and offering help like they do is very generous. Plus, I like the fact that all activities aren’t only for women. It helps all sexes and generations get to know the building and its advantages and offers courses that are accessible for all.
