School is where we pass about 15 years of our life. From a young kid who start reading to an adult at the university, everyone goes to school one day. Some people like school, but a lot are going reluctantly. One question came to my mind: Is school really useful? Of course, I believe that we couldn’t remove school from life, but we could cleary make it much more useful for everyone.
At the beginning, when school was created, the goal was to produce good workers that will all work the same and will be efficient without asking any question. However, now, the society is more based on creativity and innovation. According to this, we can say that the school system that has been created a while ago, and had changed a very little, does not help to improve the society. To make school better, we should find the best in every child, encourage his natural abilities and insist on all the creativity and young-minded intelligence that he has.
Moreover, we should change the teaching and evaluation system. As it is now, particularly in social studies and sciences, students are asked to listen to a bunch of information, such as dates or formulas, and memorize everything for the exam. The problem in this is that most of them forget almost all the info right after the exam. So, how is this useful for life? To make school better, we should teach instead of asking to memorize and insist on intelligence instead of memory.
Finally, school is undoubtedly useful to learn manners in society and basic knowledge, but we could improve it so much by insisting on passions, and perpetual learning. Because, our days, everything can be turned into a career, we don’t need to produce industrial workers.
