Garnier-Costa Rica
One month ago, a group of eleven students went on a trip in Costa Rica.
But it was not just a simple travel, they went in a village to help people
and to better understand some realities that we do not usually live with in
Canada, but that are everyday things in a big part of the world.
The group past almost two weeks in this beautiful country with activities
and work everyday. They lived in host families in the village of Herradura,
four hours from San José, the capital. As said above, it was not a tourist
trip with museum, beach and shopping. They were working in the village, the
task was to build a road for the town’s primary school because a lot of dust
enters in the classrooms. The objective was to make 12 squares of ciment,
which was a very difficult job. Surprisingly, the group did 17 squares and
the whole village was impressed by their effectiveness. This hard work has
allowed the whole group to get to know each other better and today we can
see them talking to each other as if they had always been very good friends.
In two weeks, their mindsets have completely changed, now they really see
the priorities in life, the importance of small daily actions on our future
and that we need nothing to be happy. All these discoveries that will stay
in them for the rest of their lives. Finally, if you want to hear beautiful
stories, go see the students of the group, they will make you dream.
