What is “Garnier en spectacle”? This is one of the most popular shows at CSCG. It’s “Secondaire en spectacle”, but just for students from the school. The principle is very simple, it’s a talent show, so all students who want us to discover their talents can participate, singer, dancer, musician, comedian, etc. Halfway through the show, there is an intermission where food is offered. To close the show at the end, there is a professional artist who comes to congratulate participants and make us discover his passion.
It’s obvious that when the audience sees “Garnier en spectacle”, they think that the show is incredible, that the artists are talented, but they’ll also notice something else : the props and the theme of the whole show are fantastic and really bring you to another place, another world.
As we saw last year, the school really did outdid itself with the coloured umbrellas on the ceiling, the talent and the hard work of the artists, the surprising guest that we hosted (Karim Ouellet) and all the other things that made this night magical, just like all the years before. But the point is, who organises the show? Who builds up all the props? This part is the job of two committees : scenography, whose members made all of the props and the “Garnier en spectacle” committee, who organised it. In the “Garnier en spectacle” committee, people get to organise almost every detail of the show : the theme, the ideas for the decorations, they chose the artists and the animators, they think about all the show. For the scenography, the job is to do all the decorations by painting, building up some of them and do the plan that the committee of the show prepared. It might seem easy, but the whole proceed to make the show starts from to beginning of the year to the show.
