Vegetarian and Vegan Options

by Emmanuelle Djebara-Gagnon and Mathieu Goulet-Côté

During lunchtime, I observed something: the school cafeteria does not offer enough choices for vegetarians and even none for vegans.

For a vegetarian, the only available meal is the egg sandwich because the salad bar has been closed since the beginning of the school year. This is not cool if you are allergic to eggs. Most of the time the salads in the fridge contain meat or fish. So if you are vegan no option is left for you: vegans have to bring their lunch at school and avoid the cafeteria.

I think this is sad, especially nowadays in our society which advocates for the freedom of expression. A vegan should be able to order a bowl of rice or cooked vegetables.

The cafeteria should do something so even meat eater can eat vegan food or at least try it. Moreover, it would be a great step forward to offer a menu for people who cannot eat something which comes from animals.
