The Adaptation to Secondary One

by Stephanie Do Lugar and Laetitia Gosselin

The adaptation between primary and secondary school is hard for some secondary one students. The results of their first exams are always not that good because it's hard for them to find good ways of studying. Many parents get mad at their kids when they show their first results. It takes time for them to find good ways of studying without the help of their parents and to be independent. It’s important for kids to have support from their parents so that they know that they will get better. Sometimes those students have too much pressure on top of their heads and are not really concentrating on learning in school but more about getting good grades.

For many of them the adaptation looks easy; they say that they have no problem finding where their classes are. But for many of them, it’s not easy to make friends because they are shy or maybe they think that they are not “cool”. When primary students get in high school, they feel older. They have started a new chapter in their life. They have more freedom and they have more decisions to make and have more responsibilities.
