Terry Fox Run 2017

by Clara Surprenant

It was a chilly morning on October 6th, 2017 when the staff and students from Collège Saint-Charles-Garnier headed out for their yearly Terry Fox run. That’s right, no less than thirty six years after Terry Fox’s death, his legacy still continues everywhere across the nation, including right here in the hallowed halls of the College, whether it be through the annual run or fundraiser.

This year, however, instead of running laps around the school for over an hour, the school administration decided to change things up by sending the runners to the nearby Bois-de-Coulonge for a five kilometer run, which they could finish at the pace they wished to.

Just like during past years, in support of cancer research, the school has been collecting money for the Terry Fox Foundation from students and staff, and has so far collected over 2000$, which by far surpasses Fox’s wish for 1$ per Canadian. That number is still going up, so if you haven’t done so already, please go hand in your donations! After all, like Mr. B. reminded us in class, we’re all very likely to die of cancer, so every penny you donate is essentially investing in your own future!
