Today, all eight hundred students of Saint-Charles-Garnier College attended back to school after the annual two month break. For many, it was an occasion to catch up with some friends they hadn’t seen in a long time and maybe even build new friendships. At 1PM, Salle Jean-Paul-Tardif was filled with febrility of the reunions and a new year ahead of us.
In the afternoon, after a short speech by both our principal Mr. Séguin and pedagogical director Mrs. Drolet, students from secondary 2 to 5 were invited to meet their tutors in class to finally join in a festive celebration held on the College’s lawn, where cakes imprinted with Saint-Charles-Garnier’s logo was served to all.
Sadly, the festivities were cut short by rain, which took everyone by surprise, forcing students, teachers and even the cakes to head back inside, although the cake didn’t quite manage to do it on its own, needing the help of a few valiant teachers to carry it back inside the College before it was completely ruined by the bad weather. From the open windows of the Salle Fidji, the beat from the demonstration of the school’s drumline band could be heard, defying the rain.
Despite its abrupt ending, the back to school party was a tremendous success for everyone at Saint-Charles-Garnier. Now, the school year can begin one last time for this year’s secondary 5 graduates.
